Welcome to Vienna!

Welcome to the International Conference on “Plant Genetics and Breeding Technologies“!

Modern Plant Genetics and Breeding are important factors for ensuring food security by developing new varieties that are higher-yielding, resistant to pests and diseases, drought-resistant or regionally adapted to different environments and growing conditions. Advances in Genetics and Genomics, Molecular biology, DNA sequencing and information technologies have transformed our ability to track genetic variation and plant performance, making the process of plant breeding radically faster and cheaper than ever before. New, innovative and robust technologies are emerging faster than ever before making plant breeding a high tech discipline. The primary aims of this Conference are to bring together academy and industry to highlight and evaluate modern Plant Genetics and Breeding Technologies, define perspectives and establish strong bridge between academy and industry.

International Conference "Plant Genetics and Breeding Technologies" to be held in Vienna on February 18-20th , 2013 will provide leading academy and industry scientists a platform to communicate recent advances in Plant Genetics and Breeding Technologies and an opportunity to establish multilateral collaborations.

Vienna is located in the heart of Europe on the banks of the Danube River, and considered one of the most important economic, cultural and touristic large cities of central Europe. Apart from providing top science, the Conference will capture the spirit of the city thanks to the central location of the venue, offering a multitude of cultural events just minutes away.

The International Conference “Plant Genetics and Breeding Technologies” will cover the following research topics:

  • Plant Genetic Resources, Natural Variability, Heterosis
  • Plant Genetic Populations and Population Genetics
  • Polyploidy in Plant Genetics and Breeding
  • Haploids and Doubled Haploids in Plant Genetics and Breeding
  • Molecular Breeding tools: "Omics" and Arrays
  • Molecular Markers and Marker Identification Technologies
  • Mapping of Plant Genes and Map Based Cloning
  • Genomics Assisted and Marker - Assisted Breeding
  • Molecular Plant Breeding
  • Genetics and Breeding of Quantitative Trait Loci
  • Modelling and Simulation of Plant Genetics and Breeding
  • Genotype-to-Phenotype Modelling
  • High-throughput Plant Phenotyping
  • Breeding for Important Traits
  • Emerging New Technologies & Innovative Breeding
  • Enabling Technologies: Apomixis, Male Sterility, Self Incompatibilty

Amongst the invited speakers are internationally known names such as:
Chen Z J (USA), Dunwell J (UK), Edwards D (Australia), Feuillet C (France), Graner A (Germany), King G J (UK), Koorneef M (Germany-The Netherlands), Parry M A (UK), Rob Dirks (The Netherlands), R?der M S (Germany), Schreiber F (Germany), Tuberosa R (Italy), van Eeuwijk F (The Netherlands), Visser RG (The Netherlands), Wang J (China), Waugh R (Scotland, UK) etc.

Approximately 300-350 participants are expected to attend this exciting scientific forum including almost 40 lectures delivered by worldwide known invited speakers and young, talented speakers selected from submitted abstracts. The program combines plenary lectures, poster sessions, a unique Conference Dinner Party and sightseeing tours of Vienna.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Vienna in February 18-20th, 2013!
